Setting up file transfer protocol (FTP) server with FileZilla is one of the cheapest and reliable servers. With FTP server user are able to upload files from your computer to server to make it global, also, you can download files from anywhere if you setup a personal server. You can convert any personal system into FTP server which has proper system hardware and software support. This only sounds complicated but with FileZilla it is very simple. First download the server application of FileZilla and install on the system, which you want to make server. Follow the below mention process for setting up home server:
- Download/Install FileZilla Server Binary: If you are using Windows OS then it is a positive side for you because the server application is available only for Windows platform. Download the latest server binary specific for your OS(Vista/XP/7 etc). Run the setup, to install it.
- Run Server As Windows Service: Run the server and it will provide the option to start as : windows service automatically/manually or not. Make the FileZilla Server as default from the Startup Setting wizard and its default port number is 14147.
- Set Administrative Interface As Default To Launch: On final dialog box, provide the server admin to launch automatically. You can set to logon with every user, or with admin, or manually.
- Connect to Server After Running Admin Interface: Here you can configure the server and monitor it. Provide Server Address(localhost: 127.0.0.1) and Port number(14147) while running first time. This can be changed also. Check “Always Connect to This Server” option to bypass this dialog box.
- Create Users for the server by providing user_id and passwords. For login user server_id and passwords to monitor your user.
- Further you can also start service or stop service with admin pane.
Now, FileZilla Download is available for setting the server or using its client application.
