Scanpst.exe tool has been designed especially to repair the corrupted MS Outlook application file i.e. PST file. As being the part of MS Outlook application this tool sometimes fail to function properly in case when the PST file becomes missing or corrupt. In fact this tool also fails to work when the PST file exceeds 2GB size or any other major corruption occurs. This inbuilt MS Outlook repair tool is not a flawless solution and can fail if PST encounters different issues.

This type of behavior generally occurs when the Scanpst tool is not installed properly or the PST file size increases 2 GB limitation. So, in order to sort out this problem you need to reinstall Outlook by uninstalling it or by reducing the PST file size below 2GB.
